Here are 4 designs for Christmas card inserts. Children can copy the designs or make their own on the black and white copies. Cut and paste into home made Christmas cards.

2 worksheets where children practice writing within the lines of the days of the week.

2 labelling sheets in black and white and the same sheets in colour. Children label each item connected to Shopping, writing the words underneath the pictures.

There are 4 pages of colour flashcards giving examples of reasons children might write e.g. a letter to Grandma, a party invitation and Valentine’s card. Each page shows 6 reasons to write. There are also examples of letters that could be received such as an invoice, a bill and an appointment. Cut out the cards and you could add to the writing area or table or use as a lesson in itself for writing for different reasons. The first worksheet shows reasons to write around the edge and has a writing frame in the centre. Children could use this to make notes on their choices or to write simple sentences.

A phonics resource for KS1. There are 4 worksheets. Sheets 1 and 2 - children sound out the CVC words and write the vowel or middle sounds in the squares. Sheets 3 and 4 - children write the word for each of the 10 pictures- underline the middle vowel. Then they write a phrase or sentence about the picture.

Each sheet has a theme on and off over and under inside and outside behind and in front up and down above and below There are 10 pictures on each page for children to discuss with a partner or group. Each picture is numbered. Children decide e.g if the umbrella picture shows up or down. If up, they can put the number or write the word in the up box. Children may decide an umbrella could be up or down and write in the up or down box. This resource encourages speaking and listening and thinking skills with minimal writing.

Sheet 1 is a handwriting practice sheet for the letter A - capital and lower case. Sheet 2 - children colour the things beginning with A, colour 5 apples and write the A words underneath.

Here is a set of 4 worksheets where children read the sentences and work out the missing words. They can use the pictures to help them and the key words across the top of the pages. Children write in the missing words and also write them out in the boxes provided. Children highlight or colour in the pictures as they work out the relevant ones. They can cut and match or write the numbers of the sentence next to the corresponding pictures. Next, children write the names of the animals or children in alphabetical order in the box at the foot of the pages. Children can write underneath the sentences and colour the pictures too.

10 colour pictures for children to observe carefully and think about. They then decide which objects / pictures do not fit into the pictures. They write 2 lists - a list of things that they could see at that place and a list of things they are unlikely to see. e.g. in the hospital they may see a nurse but they are unlikely to see a bird in a cage. The first word is done for them on each sheet. They then write a sentence such as comparing 2 vegetables, or their favourite type of transport.
